Chowdhury was born in Denbigh, Wales and moved to Birmingham when she was six. She is of Bangladeshi origin; her parents immigrated to England from Bangladesh in the 1980s.
Chowdhury landed the role of Parvati Patil in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire whilst she was still a student in her final year at Waverley School in Birmingham. She completed her A Levels at Solihull Sixth Form College and went on to study Media, Communication and Production at Birmingham City University.
She plays Harry Potter's Yule Ball date, Parvati Patil, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She reprised her role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
